Companion App Set up

Using the Totem Compass Companion App users can easily assign the desired WiFi network their Totems should use to update.

Please note

  1. When setting the WiFi network, the network must be a 2.4GHz network - 5GHz networks will not be recognized by the Totems during the update process.
  2. Only one Totem can be updated at a time using this method.

Before beginning this process, please ensure you have downloaded the latest version of the Totem Compass App:

Open the Totem Compass App and Connect your Totem.

  1. As the App directs, turn on the Totem, and then double click the power button on the Totem to enter Bluetooth pairing mode. The Totem touch crystal will “breathe” blue, indicating Bluetooth is on.

  2. Select ‘Scan for Nearby Totems’ on the Home screen of the app.

  3. Select ‘Connect’ to pair to the Totem from the pop-up window that appears.

If no Totem appears, ensure your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled, the Totem is still in Bluetooth pairing mode, and the Totem Compass app has the necessary Bluetooth permissions.

  1. Once your Totem is connected, scroll down on the Home screen of the app to ‘Compass Settings’ and select it.

  2. Within the ‘Compass Settings’ page, select ‘WiFi Network’ to assign a WiFi Network for the Totem to update.

Please note that the WiFi Network set must be a 2.4GHz network

  1. Select ‘Show Nearby Networks’ from the following page to scan for the WiFi Network you’d like to assign to the Totem, select it, and enter the Password for that WiFi Network.
